The Funza Lushaka Bursary is given out for a single academic year. It is not always given again. Depending on academic success, a prize will be given. Beyond the fourth year of education, there is no automatic guarantee of financial support for a fifth (5th) year of study.

The bursary may be renewed based on proof of strong academic achievement and is subject to funding availability.

Bursary recipients are required to teach for one year for each year they have received financial assistance.
What the scholarship covers:

The majority of the recipient’s necessary expenses are covered through Funza Lushaka scholarships. Tuition fees, lodging with meals, books, educational materials teaching practice, and, if possible, a modest allowance for monthly living expenses are all covered charges.

The amount allotted to each student is capped at a certain amount. The bursars will have to supplement their own funds in cases when the university charges more than the cap value. Because universities have diverse cost structures, each one’s overall bursary amount is unique.
