Vaal University offers Safety Management which is part of the Legal Sciences Department. Safety Management is available as a diploma and an advanced diploma.

The Safety Management Diploma is a three-year course and the Advanced Diploma is a year course. Each course has its own requirements, however, there are basic requirements that should be met.

Vaal University requires diploma applicants to pass the Nationational Senior Certificate (NSC) with an achievement rating of 3 (moderate achievement, 40%-49%) or better in four recognised NSC 20-credit subjects. Applicants also need a minimum of 30% in the language of learning and teaching.

  • Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy or Technical Maths

Bonus points are awarded to students who have done Maths, English, Physical Science and Natural Science. High scores will provide applicants with a better chance of being accepted.

Applicants of mature age (23 with Grade 12) who do not meet the entry requirements should submit proof of permanent employment in the industry, working in an Occupational and Health and Safety environment.
