But in order to enjoy the benefits of being a Sassa grant recipient, you must submit an application to the agency.

This can be done in two ways: in person at your nearest Sassa branch office or online on the agency’s website.
Information on social grants and how to apply is available in the Services section of this website in all South African official languages. To submit an application in person, you will need to fill out an application form. These application forms are available at Sassa offices and can also be downloaded online.
The form must be completed in the presence of a Sassa officer. A Sassa officer will be able to assist you, or your appointed person, to complete the application form if you or they are unable to do so.
You will receive a dated, stamped receipt with the name of the Sassa official who helped you with your application after the application form has been fully filled out. You must then keep the receipt given to you as evidence of your application.
